January 13 - March 26 Jr Bots Winter Training Camp - Build Your Own Battle Robot
January 13 - March 26. Mondays 5:45-8:15 PM*
Grades 6-9**: Build Your Own Battle Robot!
Classes will be held every Monday, 5:45 - 8:15 PM in Roseville, from January 13 to March 24.* Builders can battle it out in a Jr. Bots Tournament at Sacramento Bot Battles, California’s premier event for combat students, on April 4-5 at Sierra College!***
Learn combat robotics strategies and design concepts
Brainstorm and design your combat robot using 3D design/CAD
3D print, build, and compete with your own combat robot in Plastic Ant 1lb. weight class
No prior robotics experience required, but students should meet the 3D Design/CAD prerequisite. To fulfill the prerequisite, students need to either:
Have previously completed Placer Robotics’ 3D Design and Modeling summer camp, or have previous experience using OnShape or Fusion 360
Complete the required free online OnShape 3D Design/CAD coursework prior to starting the class (links will be sent upon registration); estimated time to complete the coursework is 8 hours
Space is limited to 12 students! Reserve your spot
*During last two weeks of class, students will also meet on Thursdays 5:45-8:15 for final competition preparations. March 19, March 26
**Grades are firm, please do not register students that are not currently in 6th grade or higher.
***Sac Bot Battles - each competitor under 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult/guardian at the event. The event will run Friday evening and all day Saturday, final schedule to be determined. All Jr Bots Winter Training Camp attendees will be given a free entry into the 1b Plastic Ant “Jr Bots” division, where participants will fight against other novice student builders. Included: Your mini battle bot (take home), and use of a PART Radio Transmitter & Receiver during camp and the competition
If you’d like to purchase a Radio/Transmitter and Receiver to drive your robot after camp we will have a few available to purchase at cost (~$60).
